Easy Ways to Spruce up a Rental Property
Renting a home can be a good solution for either a first time or an experienced house hunter. Rental properties provide you with options for short-term or long-term leases, depending on your preference. However, there are some restrictions that come with renting a home. It is a little more difficult to personalize the space. However, it can be accomplished with a little bit of planning ahead.
If you have a rental home, it can be a challenge to find storage areas for all your belongings. Custom shelving is not a plausible option, so look for a few different pieces. Simple shelves from IKEA can be very helpful in storing things. Shelves can be placed high up on the wall so that they are not taking up valuable floor space.
Upgrade the lighting
There is no need to put up with the uninspiring, boring lights that are in the house when you move in. Swapping out the light fixtures can be an easy fix to a home. Even just purchasing a new shade for a lamp can result in a different look for a house.
Ethanol fireplaces are good options for rental homes. They do not need to be connected to a chimney, so they are easy to place wherever you like. As well, these fireplaces do not emit dangerous fumes or real flames. They do not pose a safety risk, and therefore will not be prohibited by most landlords.
Nice window coverings
Nothing says ‘temporary’ more than cheap blinds over the windows. Avoid this by investing in some longer-lasting drapery. Choose a color that you really enjoy, and a design that will tie the rest of the room together. You will get to admire your beautiful window coverings every morning when you pull them open to welcome the sun.
You may not be able to change out the flooring, but you can buy rugs to place over them. If you want to add more warmth to the space, try adding fluffy rugs. They will be nice to step onto when you get out of the bed on a cold morning. As well, colorful rugs can add a splash of inspiration to your home.
Rental houses can make wonderful homes. They just take a little bit of TLC to shape them into their great potential. Even though you cannot change every aspect of the house, you can do enough so that your personal style is reflected. Little changes can make a huge difference, so do not underestimate their value. Take the time to incorporate these small changes into your home, and you will not be disappointed!
